The first batch of Porter's Gin from Aberdeen is now available to pre-order in the first week of December. Created by three friends who wanted to develop a high quality, bold juniper spirit with a citrus hit, they have become the first distillers in the city for a century. It is named after Professor Andrew Porter of Aberdeen University, who sourced distillation equipment which allowed the team to distil botanicals with lighter, fresher flavours at cold temperatures. The other botanicals, more suited to a traditional copper pot still, are distilled at Greenall's near Warrington. In preparation for the Christmas rush, the team has been preparing peels of Buddha's hand and pink peppercorns to macerate before the cold distillation process begins. It retails at £29.50 for a 70cl bottle.
