Glasgow Distillery Company at Hillington Business Park is ready to begin production of the city's first gin. Named Makar Glasgow Gin after the Gaelic word for poet or bard, it is juniper-led and contains rosemary and black peppercorns among its botanicals. The £10 million distillery and visitors' centre will be situated on the banks of the Clyde; construction is underway and whisky production is planned for late 2015. Makar Gin is considering becoming an export brand by 2015. The gin is bottled at 43% ABV.
