The first Scottish Craft Distillers Association Awards took place this month in Pitlochry, where the winners of the Scottish Craft Spirit of the Year were announced following sensory analysis by a panel at Heriot Watt's International Centre for Brewing & Distilling. Gold was awarded to Strathearn Distillery for Oaked Highland - a smooth, oaky gin with juniper notes and hints of citrus accented by vanilla and subtle smokiness. Dunnet Bay Distillery scooped Silver for Rock Rose, and Glasgow Distillery Company took Bronze for Makar.
