The first distillery in Shetland, operated by The Shetland Distillery Company, has launched its first product, Shetland Reel Gin. With what could be a small dig at Blackwood's, the team behind the gin says it is proud to have created a truly authentic Shetland gin with genuine provenance in Unst, the most northerly island in the UK. Emmy award-winning country singer-songwriter Jim Salestrom was on hand to play his self-penned jingle for the gin. The gin contains eight botanicals, one of which is home-grown apple-mint from Unst. It is bottled at 43% ABV and retails at £29.99.
