William S Grant & Sons changed the shape of the gin market when they introduced Hendricks and its cucumber theme in 1998. More than any other gin, this has led to a new generation of gins exploring more adventurous aromas and flavours. It is distilled using two different methods: pot still and infusion. The two distillates are combined and then the cucumber and rose oils added. The second gin created by Hendrick's master distiller is Orbium, a trade-only liquid innovation available in select bars in the UK. Orbium contains the same distillates as Hendrick’s, however the difference is made by infusing flavours that are traditionally associated with classic gin libations; quinine found in tonic (G&T) and wormwood found in Vermouth (Martini). It is presented in the same apothecary style bottle, although in a dark blue - inspired by the essence of blue lotus blossom.
